Why do people keep coming back to ROYAL?
June 26, 2023
“Amazing”, how Asa, a 14-year-old camper, describes the atmosphere at Camp ROYAL. He's a dual-sport athlete riding Mountain Bikes and Scooters, hailing from the mountains of North Carolina. Asa has been coming to camp for the last three summers and he loves it.
“This is my second summer at camp, I just like getting close to the lord, and also getting to ride bikes and scooters. You get to grow in two ways.” Asa said. "My entire family is a big fan of ROYAL!"
The Ritchey’s are another family that adore ROYAL.
“It's just a really positive and good environment,” said Cliff Ritchey, long time friend of the Royal team, who has performed many roles at camp over the years. He continued,“If you are around people that are encouraging to you, It makes you want to be there. I think people want to be here because they want to be around other people that are doing their thing.”
“I'm just here for the magic, this place is incredible!” Former camper, now staff member Cove Richey exclaims.
Camp Royal not only brings people in for the Action-Sports side of things, but it's a place where people are given the opportunity to grow in their faith. Being able to foster long-term friendships and bonds that last a lifetime is just a side effect of the “Magic” Cove Ritchey talks about. “There’s something special about this place,” said by so many people.

Camp ROYAL is an experience like none other. If your kid is into action sports (skateboarding, scootering, BMX, etc.) you honestly can't afford to not send them. The staff here is absolutely dedicated to pouring life, love, top-notch training, and inspiration into each and every kid.
As a parent who had to be on the scene a little extra to care for a child with a medical condition, I got to witness firsthand how the staff handles even difficult situations with kindness, sincerity, and a sincere desire to do well by all involved.
Dedication is an understatement with this staff. The professional training is truly fantastic, my kids were personally coached by some of the best riders in the world and then given the opportunity for one-on-one time with them to share meals, games, and amazing discussion.
I can honestly say that my two teenage boys have come back with their backs straighter, their heads held higher, their hearts lighter, and their skills significantly developed each and every time we attend camp. And the friendships that form in this place are the ones that every parent truly wants for their kids. My boys sincerely felt like they were loved, they belonged, and that each year has gotten better and better. They actually said it was "the best week of their lives."
Lastly, I should also mention that I'm very picky about where I send my kids. A decision like this does not come lightly for us. That being said, parents, do not miss an opportunity to send your kid. They will be blessed and so will you. Mine are counting down the days until we can go back.
